Scribble Press

I recently had the pleasure of attending a party with my daughter at the new Scribble Press Location on the Upper West Side.  It was fantastic.  The space is vibrant and the employees were very good at keeping the kids excited and focused on the task at hand – whether that be designing a page for the birthday girl, designing your own book, greeting or holiday cards, notepads, placemats, or a comic book.  Not only will we be returning, we will consider it for our next party.

I have detailed some information from the company below.  Here in NYC, the studios are located on 84th Street on both Upper West Side and Upper East Side (Broadway and 1st Avenue).  Website is www.scribblepress.com

PARTIES -

Bring a group to the studio & party lounge to make books, collaborate on calendars and other great custom keepsake projects in a fun, festive environment.

  • A Scribble Press party is a unique interactive party experience for children (and adults!) of all ages. Whether making a group book, notebooks, or placemats, everyone has a chance to express their creativity and take home a wonderful project that they helped make.
  • A party leader guides guests through two hours of fun party activities. The lounge is reserved just for you, perfect for chatting and enjoying party treats.
  • Guest of Honor will go home with a special “Book of Birthday Wishes” written for them by party guests. You’ll be able to remember your party forever!
  • Up to 30 invitations and thank-you notes are included. A group photo is featured on every book.

Let them take care of planning your party – all you need to do is enjoy it! A standard party includes paper goods, balloons and decorations, pizza and drinks for the kids, a cake, invitations, thank you notes and two staff members dedicated to making sure the kids have a blast! Plus, each child takes home a book or project from the party, and the birthday guest of honor receives a special “Book of Birthday Wishes” to remember the party forever!

A standard party is $855 for 10 kids. Additional guests up to 30 can be added for $30 per guest.

Add-ons include:

    • Food and drinks for adults
    • Specialty menu items
    • Goody bags
    • Additional party favors or extra projects
    • Other activities: face painting, friendship bracelets, etc…
2-5 years (Crafting)

Toddler parties are specially designed for the little ones. Kids participate in crafts, games and create their very own placemat to take home.

Choose a fun theme and watch your party come to life!

    • Fairies
    • Princesses
    • Animals/Bugs
    • Cars/Planes
    • Super Heroes

Or, let them know what theme you’d like, and they’ll make it happen!

6-8 years (ScribLib)

The centerpiece of a Scribble Press party is the ScribLib, a fill-in-the-blank story that the party guests write and illustrate together. Choose from many fun and imaginative themes:

    • Wizarding 101
    • Rockstar Extravaganza
    • A Pet for Pete and Polly
    • Super-Chef Surprise
    • Mystery of the Missing Munchies
    • Mythical Creature Madness
    • Pirates Wanted
    • Princess for a Day
    • A Zany Day at the Zoo
    • My Fairy Ring Fling
    • Fashionista

At the end of the party, each guest will go home with their very own copy of the book. Not only will the kids have a blast creating a book, they’ll feel proud of what they accomplished together!

CLASSES-

Scribblets and Scribblers classes (ages 2.5-6) encourage storytelling, sensory development , and artistic expression – building the confidence all future writers need while ensuring a great time for all. Our youngest participants love giving life to their creations in a various “Parent and Me” and drop-off classes.

For Scribble Authors and Scribes (grades 1-8), classes are designed to engage creativity and help them express themselves to their fullest potential.  For many students, this means developing basic language skills and recognizing patterns in the stories they already know and love; for others, this means learning organization and some snazzy vocabulary. Whatever the need, classes at Scribble Press are small enough that teachers can bolster individual students as they collectively work towards their own publishing project.

Scribble Press Spring and Summer Camps for 3.5 to 6yo are fun filled days packed with arts and crafts, creative snacks, sensory exploration, play acting, games, experiments and songs. Each day focuses on a different author or book collection, with the activities and art projects deriving from those books.

Summer Sessions: Camp runs from 9:30-noon. Cost: $360 for the entire week. Single day signups available the week before camp for $85, if space permits.

Scribble Press spring and summer camps for 7 yo and up are creative, imaginative and, most of all, FUN! Children will discuss graphic novels, take a journey to a distant land, decipher mysterious codes and much more, all leading to the creation of a book that children write and illustrate themseves! Young authors will develop writing and storytelling skills in a collaborative environment, and you’ll be amazed at what they create!

One-week summer sessions: $440
Three-week summer sessions: $1,199

FALL CLASSES – Classes meet once per week.

Age 2 – 3 Classes for Scribblets are one hour “grown-up and me” classes and focus on art exploration and the early building blocks of literacy. Each semester includes a variety of art media and culminates in the creation of a book that children take home to enjoy again and again.

Age 4 – 6 Classes for Scribblers provide preschoolers with a fun environment to develop their creative and pre-literacy skills. Each class has a general theme and kids learn through sensory activities, stories, social interaction and related art activities. Each semester culminates in the creation of a bound book that children write and illustrate themselves.

GRADE 1 – 6 Building vocabulary, grammar and an ability to express ideas clearly are stones in a mountain best built over time. Scribble Authors develop their writing skills in a setting that delicately balances great grammar with infectious laughter, riotous adventures with careful detail, scintillating stories with an understanding of organization. Each semester culminates in the creation of a bound book that children write and illustrate themselves.
