Several years ago, two former teachers launched a cooking school that was developed to teach a group of children how to prepare simple foods in the comfort of their own (or friend’s) home. The class experience is designed to strengthen important areas of learning and development such as socialization and task-completion. The classes (of 6-8 children) are organized by parents and meet once a week for one hour. It is said that involving the children in the preparation of their meals can really open up their palates. Counting, weighing, measuring and telling-time are some of the areas that are reinforced during the class. The children will prepare healthy snacks, sweet treats and entrees. At the end of the 10 week program, a recipe book will be provided of all the treats and meals prepared. How fun!
