Swim @ JCC Manhattan

JCC swim classes are well worth the cost due to the top notch facilities and enthusiastic instructors (an instructor named Christian was particularly good). The younger classes are conducted in an adjustable floor height pool that allows for interesting activities during free play – especially the children who can’t walk or are close to learning to walk. Frankly, I have never seen children progress as much in both their comfort in the water and swimming skills as in these classes. The teacher enthusiasm, structure of class, and facilities go a long way in fostering these very important early milestones.

It is difficult to secure a spot beyond the Bubbling Babies Class for the 6 month olds particularly if you are not a family member. The entire facility is brand new and state of the art and classes are abundant so a family membership could be a worthwhile “investment”. The JCC recently changed rules to allow for signup after the third class. Also, if you can only enroll in Bubbling Babies, its still worth it to get off to a great start. Your child will be swimming underwater at eight months!

Summer Session (classes begin in May and go thru mid-August) signup will take place on April 25 for members and April 28th for non-members. The third week of June will be signup for the Fall Session.
