Summer camp introduced us to this awesome art project- fusebeads. Go to Michael’s and buy the biggest bucket of beads and a few design pegboards, then let your child spend an hour+ making a cool pattern, iron for 20 seconds and the beads melt together to make a lovely keepsake creation. Inexpensive, no mess, focused entertainment for a large chunk of time, color sorting, patterns and use of fine motor skills – what more could you ask for in an art project?
Once your child has gotten the hang of it, there are plenty of websites that offer pictures and diagrams to challenge them. Once you’re done with the first one, you’ll find yourself going back to Michael’s to get the Biggie Beads set for little bro’ or sis’ as, no doubt, they will have already angled to get involved. Try the Perler Bead Store website to accumulate reward points to earn gift certificates, or just buy online at Amazon (see below for links).
